When my Nan moved into a Granny Annexe and the decking was laid outside her door overlooking the tranquility of the beautiful colourful flowers, the singing birds and the dogs relaxing under the glare of the sun I knew what was missing was somewhere relaxing and comfortable for her to sit.
So for Christmas this year i sourced a solid wooden rocking chair and set out to complete a simple restoration that was personal to her and somewhere for her to be close to the man she loved. As her other present was a cushion made from one of his favourite cardigans.
Sanded back to expose the wood and to tone down the orange pine, then hand painted in Frenchic Salt of the Earth and finished with a "Nan" stencil. The chair, along with the cushion brought a tear to every ones eye on Christmas Day.
